Who are the bakiga

The Bakiga people originated from Rwanda, specifically from the ancient Bumbogo kingdom. According to legend, they descended from Kashyiga, also known as Kakiga, who was the son of Mbogo, a king from the Abungura clan. Mbogo was displaced by an ally, Kirima, who took over the kingdom, prompting Kakiga to flee to southwestern Uganda, where he formed the Bakiga community in the Kigezi region.
